They beat few teams with winning records.
YSU 7-4 but I count this as a losing record since it was against the likes of South Dakota State, Stony Brook, Lock Haven?, etc. They were only 3-3 in their conference.
Akron 4-8
Washington 4-9
Northwestern 6-6 and 3-5 in conference
Minnesota 1-11 and 0-8 in conference
Purdue 7-5 but all five losses were in conference
Kent State 3-9 but only 1-7 in conference
Michigan State 7-5 but again all five losses in conference
Penn State 8-4 but only 4-4 in conference
Wisconsin 9-3 but all three losses in conference
Michigan 8-4 but they lost to Appalachian State
Ohio State beat only two teams with winning in conference records. Pretty sad and despicable that you can slide by on a YAWN schedule and somehow play for all the marbles. Just goes to show how mythical the national championship still is.
Is it fair for me to limit my analysis to in conference games. Sure, because everybody scheduled patsies for the non conference games. Take Purdue for example. 5-0 to but finished the season 2-5. Or look at the rise and fall of Michigan State.

Two turnovers at home and Penn State only scores 17 points? And then they say “We’re back!”?
It will take more than a video of a game from 2005 to beat OSU this year. Though, after we beat Penn State, you can still watch your video and imagine what might have been, if it makes you feel better.
