My favorite part of this video is when Millen comments, “That’s six” as Denard passes the 20.
Denard Robinson runs spread to perfection in Big(ger) House’s debut
This was the vision. This was Rich Rodriguez’s spread offense in all its unstoppable glory. Even at its best, it seems so easy, which must make it so maddening for defensive coaches: fake here and run there, pitch here and catch there, 5 yards, 10 yards, 8 yards, touchdown.
Let us never mention this again: Michigan 30, UConn 10
Randy Edsall did not have his team ready to play today. Flat out. I have no idea whether Michigan is a top 15 or top 25 team, but they damn sure looked like one today.
Hail to the Victors! Michigan bests Connecticut 30-10
Permit me for a moment… WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
And so following a three and out that was the best kind of medicine for a Maize and Blue soul, a beleaguered, battered, and kicked-when-down Michigan program limped out to its own four yardline, 96 yards away from a goal that for two seasons has largely eluded the Wolverines. You could almost sense the crowd collectively thinking “again?” when Connecticut downed that punt on the four.
Big Ten helmet stickers for Week 1
Michigan QB Denard Robinson: “Shoelace” was amazing in his first career start, a 30-10 victory over Connecticut, predictably with his feet and surprisingly with his arm. Robinson broke Michigan’s record for single-season quarterback rushing with 197 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries, eclipsing Steve Smith’s mark in the third quarter. He was just as brilliant as a passer, completing 19 of 22 attempts for 186 yards and a touchdown with several big third-down conversions.
What we learned in the Big Ten
1. Shoelace is the answer in Ann Arbor: So that’s what Rich Rodriguez’s offense is supposed to look like. Denard Robinson made Rodriguez look like a genius in a critical game against Connecticut, as he dazzled with both his feet and with his arm. Robinson made a decent Connecticut defense look bad throughout a 30-10 win, and his speed will be tough for Big Ten defenses to handle, especially now that he can throw the ball accurately.

Two turnovers at home and Penn State only scores 17 points? And then they say “We’re back!”?
It will take more than a video of a game from 2005 to beat OSU this year. Though, after we beat Penn State, you can still watch your video and imagine what might have been, if it makes you feel better.
