Former Buckeye shoots two cops

According to the Dispatch, former OSU football player Derrick L. Foster is charged with shooting two Columbus police officers during a late night drug raid.

Foster was a defensive end for the Buckeyes, on the team from 1989 to 1992. He is a 1988 graduate of Dayton Patterson High School and red-shirted his freshman year at OSU. As a player he underwent surgery on his knees and shoulder and also suffered from a chronic degenerative condition in his hips.

Michigan holds open tryouts

What a great move by Coach Rich Rodriguez to hold open tryouts for the football team. The Michigan Daily has several articles about the tryouts. Here and here.

There’s a blog for just about anything. And the West Virginia hatefest against Rich Rodriguez is no different. The West Virginia University College of Law’s Sports & Entertainment Law Society has a blog about the WVU vs. RR legal tussel. So far, the posts seem to be neutral in its writing and sticks to reporting the events and providing a legal perspective on the case.

Interesting reading for those legally inclined.

What an awesome display of offense. And to think, we’ve got the guy that invented it. R2 in A2 baby. Also, the Offensive Coordinator who made the calls for WVU is coming to Michigan. And unlike Eric, who thinks it may be some time for R2′s system to gell, I’m supremely confident that the Michigan Men can play the spread. I mean, did you see what they did against Florida? Thanks Lloyd Carr for showing that your players can in fact play spread football.

Not a good sign for OSU – Starting corner suspended for NC game

OSU suspended starting cornerback Donald Washington and reserve corner Eugene Clifford for the National Championship game. [Ouch, that still hurts mentioning OSU in the NC game]. No word on what they did, but it didn’t involve a violation of law.

Look for LSU and Michigan alum Les Miles to exploit the new guy at corner.

Michigan autograph day August 25

The annual autograph day will be held on Saturday, August 25 at Michigan Stadium. Michigan football players will sign autographs from 9:30 to 11 am.
