Denard finished with 337 yards.

More interesting is when is the last time Ohio State allowed two 100 yard rushers in the same Michigan game. Denard had 170 yards and Fitzgerald Toussaint had 120 yards in the 2011 version. Toussaint was the first back to rush for more than 100 yards against the Buckeyes since 2006. When is the last time, Ohio State allowed two 100 yard rushers in the same game? I’ll research it and see what I can come up with.

Jamie Morris holds the record for the longest run against Ohio State of 52 yards. Toussaint came close with a 46 yarder and Robinson popped off a 41 yarder.

Ohio State also allowed both Robinson and Toussaint to reach the 1000 yards rushing mark for the season. Wonder when the last time that happened – two rushers eclipsed 1000 yards for the season during the Ohio State game.подаръци

William Gholston caught in the act – Will the Big Ten suspend him?

I found it interesting that Chris Spielman found it necessary to defend Michigan State head coach, Mark Dantonio, as not being a dirty coach during the broadcast of the Michigan/Michigan State football game. I believe this occurred right after William Gholston was caught on camera violently wrenching Denard Robinson’s head at the bottom of the pile (I’ll have to double check to be sure when his comments were made during the game).

I guess Spielman felt it imperative to say something as Michigan State had 6 personal foul penalties during the game. At least two were on William Gholston – one for roughing the passer and one for punching an opposing player in the head/head gear. Urban Meyer openly wondered on two occasions why Gholston was still in the game after the punching incident. Spielman had no response for this.

Dantonio’s decision to put Gholston back out in the game after the two personal fouls suggests that he supports and encourages dirty play by his players. Dantonio left Marcus Rush in the game after he drew a 15 yard Roughing the Passer penalty for body slamming Denard Robinson with less than 5 minutes remaining in the game (which was reminiscent of the cheap shot taken on Mike Martin during the 2010 game resulting in a lower leg injury that hampered him for the rest of 2010).

I think former OSU players and coaches must generally support one another despite how egregious their actions are. Dantonio defended Tressel despite Tressel’s cheating and lying. Spielman must have felt that he had to return the favor by supporting Dantonio’s dirty style of play.

Still smarting from Michigan’s 1995 beatdown of Ohio State, Eddie George went out on a limb and predicted Northwestern to upset Michigan in last night’s game at Evanston. Perhaps George still subscribes to his former teammate’s, Terry Glenn’s, assessment of Michigan, “Michigan is nothing!”
George claimed that Northwestern is difficult to beat at night especially at home. He also stated that he didn’t have faith in Michigan’s defense. Perhaps George is a believer now as Michigan shut-out Dan Persa and the Mildcats in the second half. In fact, he should have been believing since 1995 when he was eliminated from having an impact on the outcome of Ohio State-Michigan matchup then. Somehow he still managed to win the Heisman despite Biakabatuka racking up 313 yards to his measly 103.
As a college football analyst, George needs take a cue from Kirk Herbstreit and learn to check his bias at the door. Old wounds may run too deep for the overrated running back/analyst to do so. Nebraska’s come from behind beat-down of Ohio State may only motivate George to continue picking against Michigan for the rest of the year. Until he gets over his Michigan bias, George will continue to be a non-factor as an analyst just like he was as a player.

I’ve been reading headlines and stories on Ohio State’s decision to vacate its 2010 season. Of course, all Buckeye fans feel that this should satisfy the NCAA and the punishment should end there. It’s amazing what little grasp of reality fans, players, coaches and administrators have. To wit:

“The Buckeyes already have received their Big Ten championship rings, and athletic director Gene Smith said they won’t be recalled.”

“It also remains unclear whether players will receive the gold pants charms traditionally given for beating Michigan.”

“It’s too bad the way it’s all panned out, but in our eyes we know we played those games,” Homan said. “I will always believe we won every one of those games fairly, and I will still see us as Big Ten champs and Sugar Bowl champs.”

“I’ll be shocked and disappointed and on the offensive,” Gene Smith said, if the NCAA adds punishments that cause students or the school to lose money. “Unless something new arises from where we are today, it’ll be behavior (from me) you haven’t witnessed.”

“Besides agreeing to change his (Tressel’s) resignation to retirement, Ohio State backed off its vow to collect a $250,000 fine for violating NCAA rules. Tressel argued that he had paid enough, Elliott said.”

“Before his resignation, Tressel was to have been sanctioned with a five-game suspension in addition to being fined. Instead, the university will pay him $52,250 – the equivalent of the salary and benefits he would have earned through the end of June 30th.”

I can’t see how the NCAA won’t blast OSU when the time comes in August. The complete lack of contrition or guilt is typical of Ohio State.икониПравославни иконииконопис

You got to love the blind faith idiots out there. I saw this and had to post it so I can keep it on my radar throughout the season:

Stephen Lee · Los Angeles, California
Call me an optimist but I see us winning every single game on this schedule. The period at the end of my previous sentence needs to be emphasized. I believe in our ability to go undefeated every single year due to the absolute fact that we have one of the best defenses in college football. I’ll be honest, I cringe when we’re on offense at times, but when we’re on defense, I know we’re going to shine 9 out of 10 times, and that statistic is a fact, I’ve done the research. Believing is half the battle my friends, so eliminate your doubts, look at our stellar record in years previous and have faith that history will repeat itself as it always does. We will have a great season, ban or no ban, and we will be on top as we so rightly deserve due to all the hard work put in by our amazing coaching staff and ridiculously talented players. Go Bucks, always and forever.
